The game is similar to Pictionary but instead of drawing, you use Legos.What is in the game:– a Lego Dice, which has the categories that can be found on the cards (Buildings, Nature, Things, Vehicles) as well as a You Choose and Double (which is like You Choose but you get double points if you guess.– a set of 96 cards divided into Easy, Medium and Hard that have pictures on them for different categories that are on the Lego Dice (Buildings, Nature, Things, Vehicles)– a building tray to sort the pieces by color– an assortment of 338 Lego piecesHow to Play:The instruction booklet describes several different ways you can play the game, but all basically come down to building what is on the card and having someone else guess what you built. The game itself can be pretty challenging — even for adults. My 5-year-old was able to play it though, and I think most kids familiar with Legos could play it. The recommended ages are 7 and up.My Thoughts:I think it is creative way to play with Legos, and a game that the entire family could participate in — even my husband enjoyed playing it! I think it definitely encourages imagination and creativity. I also appreciate that Lego provided an assortment of ways to play … and I’m sure most families could think up their own rules to adapt their own needs. This is only one of a whole new series of games by Lego but we chose this one because it seemed to the most open-ended and best suited to the age of our son. When he gets older, I’m sure we’ll be checking into some of the other Lego games that are just being released.

My 8-year-old received this last year for Christmas, and yes, it was recommended for 4-5 year olds, but what do they know about really teaching school??? The set up is not a pre-school one, but an elementary school with report cards, attendance lists, etc. This is the one play item that my daughter and her friends always seek out when they come to my house. It is very well done. Would recommend for any child that likes to play school!

Doc McStuffins is a relatively new show on the Disney Network, but it didn't take long for it to skyrocket in popularity. My daughter is 3 years old and is a big fan of the show. Not surprisingly, Disney has a new Doc McStuffins interactive doll out just in time for Christmas 2012! Funny how things like that end up working out!.Notes -- The set comes with both Doc and Lambie - each doll is interactive and plays fun little phrases.- In addition to her phrases Doc also plays the catchy "Time for your check up" song- Comes with a small medical kit that includes a otoscope and a thermometer- Lambie is soft and cuddly but Doc is made of hard plastic- Both Doc and Lambie uses 4 AG13 batteries - I am puzzled why the designers decided to go with non-standard batteries.- No volume settings- Lambie has touch-points in the ears (for use with the otoscope), mouth (for use with the thermometer), and the chest (for the stethoscope). This is fun, but you don't actually need to use the medical instruments in order to make Lambie talk.- Neither medical bag, otoscope, nor the thermometer actually fit in Doc McStuffins hands. This seems like a pretty obvious oversight. I am not sure if it will matter to your child, but it certainly seems like Doc should be able to hold her tools.Final Verdict - I think most children will really like the Doc McStuffins Interactive Doll, but I am afraid that it may not having staying power. The main advantage of the doll is that it will encourage imaginative play IF your child enjoys the Disney show. My hope is that our daughter enjoys the doll and begins to play out some of her favorite "Doc" episodes.4 Stars

This is long, but you will know everything that you need to know:PURPOSE OF PURCHASE:My daughter had just turned 11 months old. I was looking for a fill-and-spill toy that she would not outgrow as quickly as many other baby toys and I was hoping for something that she would use for creative play for the next couple of years. We were skeptical at first because we felt that, although the price is reasonable, we still did not want to throw away $20 and she might not care for it or it may be a little mature for her.I am so glad that we bought it. It was the last of the gifts that we bought for her first Christmas, and I just know it was meant for her to have.DESCRIPTION:Everything is made of hard plastic, except for the checked "blanket" which is like a handkerchief. The basket is packed pretty full with everything inside, but she can easily fit it all back in without help. She loves carrying all of the pieces around in her little hands. (There are many pieces and you don't want them lost!) The full basket is a little heavy for a baby. She did not carry the entire basket around until recently (14 months) and still prefers not to, but she has always taken it off of her toyshelf and sat with it closeby in the floor. I can watch this thing growing with her. She likes to put the food pieces and forks in her mouth. And she LOVES the sounds it makes when the lid opens and closes. She loves the songs that it sings, and let me tell you, the voice is too cute and sweet. She dances while she plays and tries to sing.POSITIVE:I love it because it is easy to wipe clean (even though I haven't had to clean it yet), it is durable, it is fun, adorable, AND VERY educational!!I had not realized before she started playing with it, but it teaches manners (saying please & thank you) and some prepositions, such as: put one cup IN the other cup, spread the blanket ON the ground UNDER the tree...a picnic WITH my friend. It sings the colors of the rainbow. It counts up to four often. It sings short songs about how many sides each shape has, and each of the three foods on each plate is a different shape (triangle pie slice, square cracker, circle orange slice). It asks you to find each shape. The plates are similar to wooden puzzles (only plastic), and she is learning to put the foods in place.She also LOVES music, and this thing is constantly singing. It even reminds you to push the butterfly button to hear a song. She can play with this toy 100% by herself, and I know that she will not outgrow it any time soon because it is also my favorite of her toys. And when her cousins (4yrs & 11yrs) came to visit, this is the toy that they played with for 2 hours straight! She plays with it more than any other toy (and she has too many toys). We have never had to replace the batteries since she first got it.NEGATIVE:The cups are not intended to hold liquids. They each have two holes in the bottom that you could almost stick a pencil through. I like that she will have to use her imagination and also I will not have to worry about the inside of the picnic basket getting sticky with juice and I am glad that ants will not be stored in there. (But some people would rather have usable cups, and if your child tried to use them, it would be messy, so I thought I would mention this.)The only real negative that I can find is that the talking basket may ask you to find the triangle, but it has no way to know whether you found it, so it does not correct you or praise you. It never responds or gives hints or anything. So basically, it just randomly asks your child to find things, but she may never know if her answer was correct (or wrong!). Therefore, I recommend that Mommy plays with her.BOTTOM LINE:I say it is well worth every cent (and more)!

I ordered this product along with a Leappad2, said item was in stock ready to ship but did not receive for another 4 days after I received the Laeppad. I could have purchased the charger pack locally at a higher price so I purchased batteries so that my daughter could use her new Leappad before we received the charger pack. The batteries lasted anywhere from 4-5hrs/4AA. The money I spent in the four days on batteries was more than the difference in price and will make up the cost of the charger pack within the first 40 hours of use. I have charged the charger pack two times (including initial charge) and my daughter has gotten close to 14hrs of use(6.5-7 hrs per charge) I am happy with this purchase and would recommend over using AA batteries. The “batteries” fit the Leappad2 perfectly and the battery doors closed just as they should, unlike prior reviews.(there is a right and left door if mixed up won’t close all the way) It looks and feels like it is solidly constructed and uses quality materials. Have not needed it yet, but the ability to plug the Leappad into an outlet and use without batteries adds functionality and versatility to the Leappad and I think is almost a necessity.

Assembly and Construction

The Monster High School contains a variety of pieces and decals. Our tester found it initially took about fifteen to twenty minutes to assemble everything included. The decals are small, but easy to apply to the miniature pieces. The High School consists mostly of plastic pieces, but seems to be well made. The designers put a lot of attention to detail, and the set includes numerous small elements from the Monster High universe, such as the tiny etchings on the Creepateria table and hangers in the lockers.

We are huge monster high fans in our house and my daughter has wanted this play set since it came out. So, today we went and got it. Within 5 minutes I knew it was a mistake. It is so flimsy that as soon as you start playing in one section everything falls over in another section. I watched my daughter play with it for about 20 minutes. After she had to keep picking everything up that had fallen I asked her did she want to keep it or spend the $80 on something else. We just boxed it up. While it has a ton of cute accessories and the school itself is very cute it is not built to play with. This was something she has wanted for awhile and I let her make the decision to keep or return it. Unfortunately, it is just not practical for kids to play with using the monster high dolls. The desks fall over if a doll is in it, the dolls fall off the bleachers, the DJ stand constantly tips over. I would not recommend anybody buying this set. If it was a gift I am sure we could get some use out of it but my daughter saved for awhile to be able to purchase it and it was just not worth the money.

We got two of these Vtech Rhyme & Discover Books for our twins last Xmas (December 2008), and they played with these at least half an hour at a time, several times a day. At 10 months later the kids (now a little over 2 years old) still play with them regularly, anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes a day, sometimes more.The books have been smeared by sticky hands and wipe clean well, and they have been dropped countless times without damage.Just recently, 10 months later, we have changed the batteries (two AAAs) in one of the books, and the other one is still going on the batteries that came inside it.The pros are:*Price (you get lots of bells and whistles for this amount of money) and batteries included*Durability*Cleanability*Visually interesting (Four panels or “pages,” for a total of seven different pictures/sides to look at, plus a couple of two-sided movable pieces that make sound effects, and three light-up “tab” buttons in the shape of a lamb, kitten and puppy, each with their own sound effects)*Huge musical variety — some songs have a couple bars of vocals and some are just instrumental(“Ring around the rosie,” “Twinkle twinkle little star,” “Mary had a little lamb,” “Little Bo Peep,” “Hey diddle diddle,” “Bingo,” “Three little kittens,” “This is the way we …,” “Old McDonald had a farm,” “The farmer in the dell,” “Rockabye baby,” “This old man,” “London Bridge is falling down,” “Three blind mice,” “Sur le pont d’Avignon”)The cons:*The on-off switch has two volume choices, but the louder option is a little too loud for young ears. (This is a problem with many toys, and not unique to this one.)*It would be nice to have the entire song for some musical selections (you get only part of the song and not all the lyrics either), but it’s not a huge minus considering how many songs are includedOverall, based on my kids’ experience with this toy, I would recommend this to my friends and/or give as a gift.Update October 2010: These books are still in the toy box rotation and going strong in spite of many falls to the floor and some banging on the play/train table. We changed batteries again, so in total one book has had its batteries changed once and the other has had batteries changed twice. Now that the kids are 3 years old, they don’t play with these books as much, so we’re getting ready to hand these down to a younger cousin.
